That lovin' feeling

Current location: Cairns North

Graduation year was 18 months ago, possibly to the day.
Since then, life has been overtaken by work, plenty of reflection, some travel, and sadly not much else. I can't help but wishing sometimes that time was more directed towards more traditional goals. Like a promotion, or even a tangible positive-growth asset.
But then again, I was never one for traditions.
I turned back to writing today because I wanted to document this feeling I had over the last couple of days. It's not from a case of me doing anything more than I usually do, but validation about being part of the medical community from the small gestures of appreciation from my patients, my mentors (however begrudgingly!), and the nursing staff.
It's great to be able to apply things that were picked up in earlier rotations, and apply them well.
I had a conversation with another GP, who parttimes in my current practice, but also works closely with my former consulting colleagues (surprise!). I mentioned to her that I was at times contemplating moving back to business consulting, which she had supported strongly. Yet, I can't imagine myself being away from clinical work, no matter how many times I wondered aloud how things would be if I did.
